Bio

I began my life as deMullotto in 1968 when I was approached by Star Distributors. It began as a part-time job and quickly worked into a full-time occupation trying to keep up with the demand. My work at that time was very crude but in the process of doing forty illustrations a month, I developed a style that became very recognizable. I finally tired of this in 1985 and became an automotive designer. It was a very long trip and when I do the math on how many illustrations I did over those years, the number even stagers me.

I continued to do commission illustrations for private collectors and during those years developed quite a few close friends. One of them mentioned that on a trip to Italy he found a coffee table book of my art that was selling for $4000. I was stunned. I had no idea my work had that value. About six years ago I bought my first computer and while cruising the web began to see more and more of my old work. That is when I actually realized there was still demand and that new fans still wanted it. I set up a Yahoo Group and it lasted for a year before their censorship finally caught up with me. But that convinced me that the fan base is still there. So for the last year I have been building my own website.

My style has changed dramatically. This is driven by two factors. My eyesight has diminished so that I can no longer work on a drawing board, and my fascination with the 3D programs run on a computer has increased. For all those years I worked at trying to make my scenes look realistic, and I used an airbrush to get as close as I could. The 3D programs on the computer get me even closer. I have always liked to add detail and when you can blow something up ten times….bad eyes don’t really matter.

Now I have three computers, high-powered and fast. I have tried many programs but Photoshop comes closest to being the ideal tool. The figures are developed in a program called Poser and brought into Photoshop for the final design. I also use Vue4 for landscape and backgrounds. Other programs I use are Rhino, Bodypaint, and the ultimate which I am still learning….Lightwave. My goal of course is to be the very best I can be.

I am retired now…..so my work gets 100% of my attention. I hope new fans will grow to enjoy my work as much as the old ones.

I have just been informed that artist de mullotto is seriously ill and suffering from stage four colon and rectal cancer.

For those of you who don't know, de mullotto was an erotic pulp artist for Star Magazine in the days before the internet. He also ran (under his real name) a highly successful airbrush studio that specialized in amazing automobile and van art. He taught many a great airbrush artist, including some of the greatest names in the business during his time.

After developing an allergic reaction to the paint fumes, he switched to computer 3-d images and was one of the leading early Poser artists.

He had just started experimenting with photography when he suddenly suffered a stroke seven years ago, which brought his career to a halt, just as he was making a comeback in erotic art.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. de mullotto was and remains one of the best people I have known.

Here are some of his masterwork (Remember he made this more than 8 years ago before his stroke).
