Community
Community is an American television sitcom on the NBC network that debuted on September 27, 2009. It centers around a quirky, diverse group of seven students who form a study group at the fictional Greendale Community College in Greendale, Colorado. It stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Chevy Chase, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover, and Alison Brie.
Synopsis
The episode "Basic Genealogy" (season 1, episode 17, 3/10/10) centers around a special visiting day when the parents of the students tour the college campus. This introduces the families of most of the main characters.
The spanking scene
Britta (Gillian Jacobs) is asked by Troy's half-crazy grandmother to go and get her a switch after she insults her. Trying to prove that Troy (Donald Glover) is wrong about her insanity, Britta obliges. His grandmother flicks it and claims that "it'll do." Britta then extends her palm, prompting the elderly woman to say she is not a nun and for Britta to "drop your pants and get over my lap". Despite Troy's warnings, Britta obeys.
Troy's grandma begins to angrily spank her as hard as she can. At first, Britta underestimates the pain of a hard spanking but begins to scream after three spanks. She endures 25 very hard whacks with the switch rod. The low-angle head-on point of view shows Britta's facial reactions and screams along with the switch coming down, but the actual impacts are not seen. During this two other characters enter and dismiss it as "the wrong room."
Despite being played for laughs, this is still one of the most severe corporal punishment scenes to appear on television.
