Brine is water saturated with (or containing large) amounts of a salt, often used for preserving and pickling foods.
To brine means to immerse, preserve or pickle in saltwater. Placing a turkey in a bucket of brine for several hours increases the flavor during cooking.
Placing a freshly-cut hickory branch in brine pickles it, rendering it more flexible for a disciplinary switching.
Brining a spanking implement before use serves three purposes:
- It makes the implement more flexible and durable.
- It adds weight to the implement.
- It can also increase the sting if salt is transferred to the bottom of the spankee.
