MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the "Bay Area Women of Color Photo Project" is to expand the aesthetic and cultural perception promoting artistically tasteful artistic photographic images of Women of Color in the fine arts and alternative lifestyles.

OUR VISION

We are bringing experienced Women of Color models together with fine art & elegant fetish professional photographers to facilitate the co-creation of images that demonstrate our strength, beauty, and diversity.

Woman of Color models involved in various artistic and lifestyle communities are not coming forward for a variety of reasons, but chief amongst these is the fact that the images most commonly presented are of people unlike themselves. If Women of Color that are actively involved in Fine Art & Alternative Lifestyle Models could see other Women of Color participating, they would feel included and acknowledged.

Images have the power to shape our consciousness. These artist-inspired images will represent diversity and demonstrate us in a positive and exciting manner.

By encouraging and facilitating the participation of fine arts photographers, elegant fetish photographers and experienced fine arts models there will be a higher quantity of high-quality artistic images of Women of Color represented in fine arts and alternative media.

INCEPTION OF AN HISTORIC IDEA: Ms. Heart & Andrew Morgan

I have a personal interest in fine arts and alternative photography: On the modeling side actually. I like being depicted in ways that show my strength, my body, my sensuality, my artistry and my intellect as a strong-minded Woman of Color. I have been working closely with a good friend of mine by the name of Andrew Morgan, a professional fine arts photographer. Together we have discussed this issue and come to the conclusion that there are very few images anywhere to be seen that depict Women of Color actively engaged in the fine arts and elegant fetish scene. In the spirit of collaboration, This is also a way for experienced models to be part of an artistic collaborative process. A model has the ability to offer inspiration for a photographer during the initial interview process and during the actual photoshoot.

In September 2003 Mr. Morgan and I started a project and had our first photoshoot, which we call the Bay Area Women of Color Photo Project. Its goal is to produce professional, high-quality photographs of Women of Color, which depict women in interesting and artistic ways. We would like there to be more images available that can be used to promote the concept of ethnic diversity and encourage more Women of Color to emerge. In 2005, Ms. Von Livid joined as our new Creative Director The women (one main prop. model) who have graciously modeled for us exemplify Ethnic Diversity within the WOC community ranging from Fine artists, Heterosexual, Bi-Sexual, Lesbian, Femme, Pansexual, Sub, Daddy Dyke, Daddy Dyke Divas, Butch Dyke, Femme Dyke, Leather Dyke, Domme, and various body types. As of September 2006, Our current Project Photographers are Andrew Morgan, Larry Utley, Shilo Mc Cabe, Jeff Compasso, Darling Propaganda and Darque of Indigo Blaque. Our guest photographer is Refa One.
