Anti-authoritarianism (also spelled antiauthoritarianism) is opposition to authoritarianism, which is defined as a form of social organization characterized by favoring complete obedience and submission to authority. Anti-authoritarianism, in turn, favors individual freedom and strong civil liberties. The term anti-authoritarianism is mainly used to refer to politics and is sometimes used interchangeably with anarchism.
