A Role is a set of expectations and behaviors that a person assumes in a particular circumstance or relationship. It may be fictional, as in roleplay. Or it may be part of a real relationship. For example, wife, husband, father, mother, daughter, and son are all roles having to do with a familial relationship. Teacher, student, policeman, boss, and employee are all roles having to do with a social relationship. Top, bottom, spanker, and spankee are all roles having to do with a spanking or BDSM relationship.
