During the Second World War, while our countries young men were fighting abroad, female factory workers took up the war effort back home in manufacturing. Exposed to heavy machinery and harsh conditions, certain parts of the female anatomy were left exposed to injury.
Recognizing the needs of the newly expanded workforce, officials sought to create special protections for females performing manual tasks. Wilson Goggles, a Pennsylvania company specializing in industrial safety equipment, created the SAF-T-BRA. The special women’s undergarment, made entirely of plastic, succeeded in the prevention of these certain occupational accidents.
