Georgios Jakobides

Georgios Jakobides (Γεώργιος Ιακωβίδης), also known as Georgios Iakovidis (1853-1932) was a Greek painter and one of the main representatives of the Greek artistic movement of the Munich School. He studied painting and lived in Munich for 17 years. His work is influenced by German academic realism.

Many of his paintings have children (mostly boys) and infants as subjects, often together with their grandparents. He also painted a lot of interior scenes and still lifes. In 1889 his wive died and he returned to Greece, now focusing on portraits.
