SF Citadel is located in the bustling, edgy South of Market district of San Francisco. We are located near several good restaurants, and public transportation (MUNI and BART) is just 1 short block away. The SF Citadel opened on December 14, 2003, and moved to its new location.
The Citadel
The operators’ goals for the space are:
- Create a leather space in the heart of San Francisco.
- Create a community center for the local leather population.
- Create an educational center featuring classes and events for both the experienced and the curious newcomer.
In addition to regularly scheduled parties on most Friday and Saturday nights (consult the calendar before you come!), SF Citadel hosts classes, discussion groups, toy sales, and a variety of other activities serving the leather community. Between events, filmmakers and photographers love to use the space as a unique location for their productions.
Membership
In the Spring of 2006, in order to fulfill requirements for San Francisco business licensing, and more importantly, business insurance libability, SFCitadel evolved into a Membership Organization with low yearly dues. Very similar to local men's community clubs, SF Citadel has members fill out a basic information and waiver form, then provides a membership card that is good generally for twelve months from the inception date.
Membership dues are $10 (ten dollars) for a year's membership
Membership is necessary for those individuals wishing to attend Citadel Open Parties, Citadel Sponsored Programs, Citadel Sponsored Theme Nights, and most events that are not designated as Private Events. For Private Events, where an individual, group or organization has booked SF Citadel outright, there are no membership requirements as that is covered in the Private Rental Agreement.
There are plans to revise the membership structure in the future to include other types of Membership, which will provide other rights and privileges. New information will be posted as soon as it is available.
