Template:Macheader Amaurophilia is the sexual preference for a blind or blindfolded sex partner, or for having sex in total darkness; may be due to religious guilt, low self-esteem, or feelings of inadequacy. (Most people are uncomfortable about having sex under bright lights; also, tactile stimulations reach greater sensitivity in semi- or total darkness.)
Etymology: From amaurosis , loss of vision or blindness, and philia , attraction.
See also lygerastia (arousal in darkness.)
