Human body proportions at age 5, 4, 2, 6. The two children on the left would be called pre-school children.

A pre-school child is one below primary school age, typically in the age range of about 3 to 5 years (the definition of school age varies among countries). A pre-school child is between toddler and school age and may attend preschool (or kindergarten in countries where the term kindergarten refers to pre-school education).
