Jean Fauconney was probably a French medical doctor who was a productive author in the first quarter of the 20th century covering various sexual phenomena, under his real name and under pseudonyms including Dr. Caufeynon, Dr. Eynon, Dr. X. and Dr. Jaf (pen names based on anagrams of his name or initials). Most appeared in a series titled "Bibliotheque populaire des connaissances medicales" published in the first decade of the 20th century. While most of his writing is medical (based on solid medical knowledge of his time but also covering historical roots, written in easy language for a wide readership), he also wrote a few erotic/pornographic works and also wrote on other topics such as the occult.

Among his spanking themed works is Fouetteurs et fouettés (from 1908 or 1909) and Flagellantes et flagellées : La flagellation, vice féminin. His erotic works were illustrated by artists such as Leon Roze and (probably) Victor Spahn.
