Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon (美少女戦士セーラームーン Bish"jo Senshi Sēr" Mūn) is a Japanese shoujo manga series of the magical girl genre written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. The series follows the adventures of a young schoolgirl named Usagi Tsukino as she transforms into the titular character to search for a princess and an artifact called the "Legendary Silver Crystal" (「幻"銀水晶" Maboroshi no Ginzuish"). During her journey, she leads a diverse group of comrades, the Sailor Scouts aka Sailor Soldiers (セーラー戦士 Sēr" Senshi)-Sailor Guardians in later editions-as they battle against villains to prevent the theft of the Silver Crystal and the destruction of the Solar System.

The 18 manga volumes have been adapted into an anime series titled Sailor Moon which was produced by Toei Animation. The series was broadcast from 1992 to 1997 in Japan over the course of five seasons.

Sailor Moon wears sailor fuku, a Japanese type of school uniform based on the sailor suit, and an odango hairstyle consisting of two buns on the side of the head with pigtails. The term odango was popularized by Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon was among the first anime recognized as such to be featured in American television in 1998 and grew overwhelmingly successful with younger audiences, popularizing Japanese popular culture in the west. Earlier anime where popular but the general audience failed to notice their origin differing from other cartoons.

In official works

In the second season (formally titled "Sailor Moon R"), there are two spanking scenes where Usagi (English name "Serena") spanks Chibiusa (English name "Reenie/Rini"). In episode 60, Usagi lifts Chibiusa with one arm and scolds her while giving her four swats (clip in Japanese). In episode 63, Usagi spanks Chibiusa OTK on her bed; only one hard swat is shown (clip in Spanish). Later in the same episode, there is also a short fantasy sequence in which Chibiusa imagines herself being strong enough to spank Usagi, showing three swats with Usagi over Chibiusa's knee. During the "Sailor Moon Super S" movie (set during the fourth season), Chibiusa gets three hard swats on her bottom, not for punishment but to break her out of a trance.

In Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (a live action version of the original anime): In episode 27, Sailor Moon tells a mind-controlled Sailor Mercury "I'm bringing you back, even if I have to spank you," The accuracy of this translation is uncertain. However, in episode 28 Usagi and Ami (Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury in their 'civilian' forms) are stuck in a pocket dimension. Ami is nearly catatonic and refuses to move, due to guilt over her role as 'Dark Mercury.' Usagi grabs her by the arm and tries to drag her along. When Ami still hesitates, Usagi gives her a rather clumsy slap on the butt to get her moving.

In fan art

There is also fan art with spanking scenes of Sailor Moon characters.

Spankart drew Rini Spanked in 2004, a scene showing Rini hand-spanked OTK by Neo-Queen Serenity.

Palcomix is planning (on hold) the spanking comic Tough Love, a Sailor Moon parody with Serena and Rini.
